Granny hillbilly out with a spoon in the big pot. I dig hillbilly things. A stereotype can become an interestingly creative motiff for the artist to use about his characters and situations. It is native to we of Appalachia and so these two are introductory photos of paintings of mine to set the mood and tone as distinctly Appalachian. You have to know that I intend upon pursuing the Appalachian genre of the arts and keeping upon it and its subjects. It may even seem country or "hillbilly" as far as I am concerned, but we all may happen to fall defacto into the category of Appalachia as in how we and our works are held to be in history, therefore, we should make the best out of it and become the one truly successful and highly productive Appalachian Writers Group. I am now looking about having the writers group officially registered and advertised on the West Virginia Writers website. I also plan to announce the writers group to the members of the wvw roundtable forum and have already invaded facebook about the time and date and location of the next writers group meeting. The truth is that we are hillbillies and are stereotyped as such. We are not stupid people or as intellectually challenged as some would think. However, our heritage of West Virginia is a diverse state of rich in heart, soul, and community.
The smallest of our creative efforts can embrace the richness in our grounds, soil and people. Constructive creativity can help to break the labeling that we get. I find your pictures truth for many families who have survived and thrived in West Virginia.
If we can not embrace the good and bad of truth in our heritage, then what future justices are we providing about our people, our life and what it truly means to be a Mountaineer! I love our blue and gold:) The diversity of living we do in our state is a country of learning without traveling outside our state boundaries! I LOVE IT~Great work and description of WV:) Wanted to share mine too...
