“Make sure the light in you is not darkness,” Jesus warns us in the gospel of Saint Luke. Are we somehow troubled by the starkness Of His counsel? Is naming light a fluke? Shouldn’t we know light from dark, dark from light? What is in us demands eyes of the soul To decide what is wrong or what is right. We could be fooled, thinking we’re in control. If we follow evil but call it good, It’s still evil, though popular today. There’s no comfort in numbers. If we stood With the sinners, one more devil would pay. To have light within, let’s follow Jesus, Then sharing our light can only please us.
