Trying life is the salamander, the amphibian, lashing back and forth up through the moss and dirt then gasping. Little formed toes and solid black eyes and legs which, run, fight and struggle forever. The hook goes into the healthy lizard's eye and out of its mouth, the saddest thing imaginable. It drifts in and out of consciousness, it still sprints and snakes on top of the water. We reel him in time and time again. His life is lost, was purposeless, yet, he flies through the air as we recast still trying.
