One Blue Fender
my pickup has one fender blue. the rest is green. the rust creeps through. my girlfriend's leanin' on my side. drink Hurricanes and take a ride. jobs i had this week are few. Obama, where the hell are you? He is the AntiChrist they say fox news and preachers, by the way, think the world's comin' to an end the rapture's just around the bend. you wanna know just what i think? it's enough to drive a man to drink. my pickup has one fender blue. i'm pentecostal through and through. it's like they just don't understand my world's Old Milwaukee in a can. there's a world of difference, can't they see? amongst Obama, God, and me. my pickup has one fender blue. my life's my own. the rust creeps through.

If anyone has ever owned a mismatched fender, they can very well relate to this poem. I enjoyed the laughter, the sincerity and truth you announced in writing and sharing this poem.
I embrace poetry for two reasons. One - Any topics I can personally relate too. Second - Because there are no rules, limits or restrictions:) You captured the essence of what I embrace about the hardships of growing in a world not too far from your One Blue Fender:) Thank you Debra. I hope that springs finds us both soon~ Keep writing...you helped me to smile on a big snow too!
